The Oldboy ending
The ending of Oldboy is one of my favorites. Is amazing because the plot twist reinterprets the main topic of the film: the vengeance, furthermore the ending of the film is neither a happy or a sad ending which is really interesting for me. Besides in an audiovisual way the final scene is really beautiful.
The end of the film has a big surprise that shakes the audience and changes their. expectations of the film. Oh Dae-su discovers the real vengeance of his enemy: he washed the Oh Dae-su's brain to make that he fell in love with his own daughter. The main character discovers that he slept with her without knowing that she was her daughter, this is an awful way to revenge, and a very original film revenge, also this revenge has certain relation with the Oedipus greek myth, so the film has some elements of a greek tragedy which makes its script much more interesting.
The ending of the movie is (in the Robert Mckee words) an ironic ending, because when the main character wins discovers an horrible truth, in that moment Oh Dae-su feels that he is a monster. Is amazing because is like the ending of any mainstream movie (the hero defeats the villain and keeps the girl) but in that case, the girl is the hero's daughter. This ironic ending has a really ambiguous ethic, because Oh Dae-su ask a mentalist to wash his brain again and erase the knowledge of the incest. All those elements makes Oldboy a really interesting movie because when the film ends you don't know if you must feel happy or sad with the main character's destiny.
The final scene is really beautiful, all the elements of the scene creates the feeling that the love between the characters it's a pure love (the white landscape, the hug between the characters), also, the music of this scene it's a waltz, like in a marriage. Finally, the color work of the scene emphasizes the love and passion between the characters, with the red clothes of the girl.
All these strange feelings makes that the ending of Oldboy is one of my favorite movie endings and one of my five favorites movies of all time.

Overall message clear. Structure is well attempted though not fully achieved due to the lack of transitions. Grade: 6.5
